HypnotherapY
Hypnosis is an incredible tool that allows us access to our subconscious mind. Our subconscious is where much as 97% of our beliefs, behaviors, and habits are stored. Therefore, working directly with the subconscious can help make positive, lasting changes.
What is hypnosis?
There are many definitions of Hypnosis and hypnotherapists. Hypnosis is often associated with stage shows and other often mystical things. For example, someone is waving off a spell, and the other person's fingers are stuck together. However, Hypnosis is not supernatural but a natural, safe state that occurs hundreds of times daily. The word hypnosis comes from an ancient Greek word for sleep, but contrary to popular belief, it is not a state of deep sleep. For example, if you've ever driven somewhere and zoomed out, only to arrive and forget how you got there, that is what we call "highway hypnosis.” A very light hypnotic state. On a subconscious level, you were still in control of your vehicle - but you don’t remember exactly what you did to get there.
Definition of hypnotherapy
In therapy, Hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention focussed inward and appropriate suggestions made by the therapist. It consists of the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the patient is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating entirely on the hypnotist's voice. In this state, the conscious mind is suppressed, and the subconscious mind is revealed. The therapist can suggest ideas, concepts, and lifestyle adaptations to the patient, the seeds of which become firmly planted. Promoting healing or positive development in any way is known as hypnotherapy. It's a type of mind-body medicine, and Hypnotherapy aims to re-program patterns of behavior within the mind.
How does it work?
Hypnosis is an incredible tool that allows us access to our subconscious mind. Our subconscious is where much as 97% of our beliefs, behaviors, and habits are stored. Therefore, working directly with the subconscious can help make positive, lasting changes in creating a life you truly want. Hypnosis is thought to work by altering our state of consciousness so that the analytical side of the brain (left) is turned off while the non-analytical side is made more alert (right). The mind's conscious control is hindered, and the subconscious mind is awoken. Since the subconscious mind is a deeper-seated, more instinctive force than the conscious mind, this must change for the client’s behavior and physical condition to reverse. During hypnosis, you can access and strategically rewire your subconscious mind to make positive, lasting improvements.
